VJ Guide

What is a VJ?

VJ (visual jockey) is the role — and the system — that picks, layers, and changes visuals in sync with music. Clubs, festivals, and live venues use VJs to add a visual layer on top of the DJ's audio.

Historically VJ meant "a human mixing visuals live." Today the term extends to automated and unattended workflows where pre-built rules or song recognition swap visuals for you. This guide maps those variants and explains how to choose between them.
